Week 9 - Life Drawing

This week was a short exercise with pastel before a long pose. Click for full images

Warm up exercises on one sheet of paper using multiple pieces of coloured charcoal, the model posed herself differently every two intervals, 12minutes . Not really happy with this one as was pretty much worn out by the exercise halfway as well as watching Avatar before the lesson. Not to mention the positioning of the model wasn't the best. Spent a lot of time on the hair. Long drawing! more then an hour at least (lost track of time!). Full view recommended

Week 8 - Life Drawing

This week was strict use of charcoal. Click for full images

Trying to play with different uses of the charcoal, making different strokesI aimed to try and get the background in, including the texture and pattern as well as the shading, but unfortunately ran out of time. 40 minutesMy least Favourite, the model was in an awkward body position for this. 40 minutes

Week 7- Life Drawing

This week was somewhat of a free-to-do-whatever-you-want life drawing lession. I aimed to experiment on focusing my attention specifically towards particular body areas, even if it meant an uneven level of detail within my work. Click for Full View

As I generally work on feet last when I do life drawing, I aimed to try and see how I would do on working and focusing on the legs and feet first.Again I tried working on the feet first, then moving up the left, As you can see I got to the arm before time ran out.Lastly I tried working on the middle section, aiming to add shades of highlight and shadow in order to catch areas that were blocked from light by the arms of the model, as well as some parts of the leg.

Week 6 - Life Drawing

The aim of our life drawing this week was to focus on negative space within the picture.
What this essentially means is we were not to focus on the model, rather.. everything else but the model.

I think I love life drawing more then anything right now. It's... aesthetic...

Blocking out the model shape, and aiming to draw around her outwards (40 minutes)

Aiming to put in the model within a scene, rather then just leave the model floating in thin air like my other life drawings (1 hour 20 minutes, I think)

I need to try and find a way of making use of life drawing in this particular project. At the moment, it's simply a way to channel my traditional drawing skills.
